Autistic & Neurodiverse Football Teams (U16 & U21)
At Haddington Athletic CFC, we believe football should be for everyone. Our Autistic and Neurodiverse Football Teams provide a safe, welcoming, and understanding environment for young people with autism and other neurodiverse conditions to enjoy the game, make friends, and grow in confidence.
These dedicated teams, for under-16 and under-21 players, are built around inclusion, patience, and positive communication. Every session is tailored to meet the needs of our players, focusing on enjoyment, social interaction, and personal development rather than competition or pressure.
Our Approach
Our trained volunteer coaches work closely with players and families to create a supportive, structured, and flexible football experience. Sessions are designed to:
Encourage confidence, coordination, and communication skills
Promote teamwork and social interaction in a calm, understanding setting
Build independence and resilience through fun football activities
Provide routine and consistency, helping players feel secure and included
We work in line with Scottish FA inclusion guidelines to ensure that every player has the right support and encouragement to thrive — both on and off the pitch.

Every Wednesday
(U16’s 17:00-18:00)
(U21’s 18:00-19:00) -
Haddington 3G, Whittingehame Drive and local East Lothian venues

Boys and girls aged 10–21 with autism or other neurodiverse conditions — no previous football experience required.

Comfortable sportswear, trainers or boots suitable for 3G, and a water bottle.

Sessions are delivered in small groups with additional support available to ensure every player feels comfortable and involved. Parents and carers are always welcome to stay and watch in a friendly, relaxed environment.
