First Team & U20s
Founded in 1939, Haddington Athletic Football Club — proudly nicknamed the Hi-Hi’s — has a long and proud history within East Lothian football. The club plays its home matches at Millfield, where generations of players and supporters have helped build a true community football legacy.
Competing in the East of Scotland Premier Division, the Hi-Hi’s continue to go from strength to strength. After a memorable 2021/22 season, the club were crowned First Division champions, earning a deserved promotion to the Premier Division. This success marked another major step forward for Haddington Athletic as a competitive and ambitious community club.
The club’s progress has been led by Manager Scott Bonar, who took charge in July 2021 and has overseen continued development both on and off the pitch. Under his leadership, the Hi-Hi’s have built a talented, hardworking squad that reflects the values of commitment, teamwork, and community pride.
In 2020, Haddington Athletic proudly achieved SFA membership, following significant upgrades to the Millfield ground. One of the most notable additions is The Donaldson Family Stand, named in honour of former club president Drew Donaldson — a fitting tribute to a family who have made an outstanding contribution to the club’s history.
Today, Millfield stands as one of the most welcoming and well-equipped community football venues in East Lothian, hosting not just first team matches, but youth fixtures, community events, and local initiatives..
Player Pathway – Haddington Athletic U20s
The Haddington Athletic U20s squad plays a vital role in the club’s long-term vision — developing local talent and providing a clear pathway from youth football into the senior game.
Our U20s compete at a highly competitive level, offering young players the opportunity to experience senior-style football while continuing their technical and personal development within a supportive club environment.
The focus is on progression, learning, and opportunity. Players are encouraged to work closely with the first team coaching staff, gaining invaluable experience and the confidence needed to take the next step in their football journey.
At Haddington Athletic, we take pride in seeing homegrown players progress through the youth ranks into our U20s and, ultimately, the first team. This strong player pathway ensures the future of the Hi-Hi’s remains local, sustainable, and deeply connected to our community.
